Lucknow, 12 December : The second day of the four day International Environmental Olympiad (IEO 2023) organized by City Montessori School, Gomti Nagar Campus II was extremely enlightening. Students of various countries highlighted the beauty of Mother Earth through a series of exciting competitions like quiz, elocution, model-making, painting, gaming application, courtroom drama, photography and A Capella competitions. They also threw light on the importance of the five elements of nature namely, water, air, fire, earth and space.

               The series of competitive events took off with ‘Over the Moon - 2030 Space Innovators Challenge (Model Making) contest' in the juniors category in which a team of two students made models of rockets using modern technology that amazed the viewers. These models were made keeping in mind energy conservation, safety and payload capacity. The scientific thought and creativity of the students behind these models was breathtaking and much appreciated by one and all. Similarly in the 'Tree of Wisdom (Elocution) Contest', the oratory skills of students were beyond comparison and received great applause. On the theme of 'Tree', a team of two students each not only gave expression to their poetic skills but also acted out their parts making the event truly memorable. The ‘Bonsai Elegance (Painting) Contest' of the Senior category was pictorially remarkable in which students poured out their artistic and aesthetic talents revealing nature in all its glory and majesty. In ‘Pixel Forge (Gaming Application) competition', students from far and near participated actively and created new gaming apps on the theme of ‘sustainability’.

               In the same vein, the afternoon session continued with exciting events like ‘Guardians of the Green (Courtroom drama)' contest. In every team there were 6 to 10 students who presented their arguments on a real life environment based case. While one team member was the judge, the other was a lawyer fighting the case of environmental protection and another was a witness in the case. Environmental concern has recently been the subject of many courtroom cases in view of hazards caused by pollution of water, air and soil.
