Lucknow, 23 October : As in previous years, 55,000 students of all 18 campuses of City Montessori School have pledged to celebrate a cracker-free Diwali this year. As a part of their commitment, the students will take out an awareness march on Monday, 1st November to sensitize the general public, specially the youth and children about the harmful effects of crackers on the environment, animals and the elderly. The ‘Shubh Deepawali, Ashubh Patakha’ march will start on Monday, 1st November at 8 am from CMS Head Office, 12 Station Road and will culminate at GPO park, hazratganj, where CMS founder and students will appeal to the public to celebrate a cracker-free Diwali.

            Through this march, CMS students will appeal to all, especially school students, to celebrate a cracker-free Diwali in their own interest, in the interest of society and the environment and progress on a righteous path. For the past several years, CMS students have been campaigning for a cracker-free Diwali to make the people aware about the harmful effects of firecrackers. They realize that firecrackers are a cause of a lot of mishappenings all over the country, often resulting in loss of lives. Poisonous gases released from these crackers pollute the atmosphere in the worst way, making the air unbreathable for several days thereafter. CMS believes that in ancient times, people celebrated Deepawali by decorating their houses with earthen lamps which is the right way of celebration instead of bursting crackers and causing harm to the environment and the general public.
