Climate and Environment are Urgent Concerns facing Humanity-- Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, President & MD, CMS

Lucknow, 2 June : “We are witnessing the transformative potential of the youth, where young people are at the forefront of driving positive change with courage, Greta Thunberg being one inspiring example tugging at the heart-strings of the world’s conscience; indeed youth can change the world” said Prof Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, the President and MD, City Montessori School. She was speaking as keynote at the 2-day seminar on Environment and Climate change organised by the Canadian High Commission in collaboration with CMS.

               Speaking further in the panel discussion on 'Showcasing Youth-led Climate Action', the Chief Guest Ms. Prachi Gangwar, D.I.G. Forests,  commended the effort by saying that 'We need to give serious thought to environmental issues and educate the young generation, inspiring them to play an active role in environmental protection'.

               CMS students expressed their views in one voice that it is the ultimate responsibility of all of us to our use God-given natural resources judiciously and to green the environment for safeguarding the existence of mankind.

               In this two-day seminar, there was a comprehensive discussion on various social issues including the environment, women empowerment, and gender-based violence. Serious discussions were held on the topics like  'Empowering Change: Transforming Attitudes to End Gender-Based Violence' and 'Strengthening Women Entrepreneurship Ecosystem at Grassroots in UP', in which Ms Aparna Rajat Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner of Police; Ms. Alima Zaidi Ali, Association of Advocacy and Legal Initiative; Dr. Rooprekha Verma, Former Vice-Chancellor, Lucknow University; Ms. Jyotsna Kaur Habibullah, CEO, Lucknow Farmers Market and Ms. Itishree Mishra, Assistant Editor, Times of India, etc. expressed their views
