Lucknow, 6 January : Shri Krishna Chandra Sahay, a Gandhian social worker and freedom fighter departed for heavenly abode last night at 85 years of age in Jaipur. Mr Sahay had been the Director of Gandhi Peace Foundation in Agra who devoted his entire life in service of poor and down trodden people. Even after death, he dedicated his body to the Jaipur Medical College for research work. Mr Sahay was married to the younger sister of renowned educationist, Dr (Mrs) Bharti Gandhi, Founder-Director of City Montessori School on 26 January 1959. His wife died six years ago and he is survived by two children. He had great fondness for CMS and worked devotedly for World Unity and World Peace.

               Dr Bharti Gandhi, Founder-Director of CMS, paid homage to Mr Sahay with the prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Expressing her heartfelt tribute, she said that the death of Mr Sahay is an irreparable loss to the society. He had devoted his entire life to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and served the poor and needy people throughout his lifetime. He had donated one lakh rupees, the savings of entire life, to the victims of Gujarat earthquake. The people of Agra collected one lakh rupees and credited in his bank account but that he donated that amount too to the victims.

               Dr Gandhi further said that Mr Sahay was socially very active. He had motivated 663 docoits of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to surrender and come into the  mainstream of society. Besides, he had raised voice and movement against Veerappan, the notorious chandan smuggler of Karnataka. Mr Sahay was highly impressed with the thoughts of Shri Ram Manohar Lohia, freedom fighter, thinker and socialist politician. On Lohia's call he jumped into agitation during Portuguese regime in Goa and was shot by a bullet.
